Reverb

Reverb or Reverberation is an artificial effect which is meant to simulate the echoey sound of large enclosed spaces.

Good Reverb is actually very hard to achieve.

One pretty much fool proof method is to record the impulse response of a good sounding reverberant room and then use that impulse reponse as an FIR filter to filter the input signal. This process applys the reverberation characterists of the room to the signal.

The bad news is that the impulse resonse you record above is likely to be many seconds long resulting in an FIR filter with 100,000 plus coefficients. Filtering a signal an FIR filter of this kind is computationally very expensive and this is not a commonly used technique.

People have spent the last several decades trying to find an easy general method of creating high quality reveberation.
